"Drag me" ("Drag Me/Drag Self") is a kind of rite of passage - a symbolic parting with artifacts that cluttered my surroundings and my thoughts, both physically and metaphorically. By combining these objects, gluing them down, and spraying them with paint, I stripped them of their individual meanings and liberated myself from an attachment to my past self. The more I cast onto the fabric, the greater the sense of inner peace I felt. Eventually, my metamorphosis was complete.
This piece was created as part of my graduation project at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Its title is part of a larger project - "Drag me" - dedicated to the search for the self through the layering and shedding of various meanings, much like the performances of "AFAB Queens" - a subject I researched extensively for this work.
